Annual Report Filing Requirements

Mostly all states impose an annual reporting obligation on their domestic and foreign business entities. The primary purpose of the annual report requirement is to provide the public, investors, the filing office, and other government agencies with the information necessary to locate and communicate with companies formed or doing business in the state. The business’ contact information can change during the year. The business may have moved locations. Management of the business might have changed. The registered agent may have changed or moved. The annual report provides the states with a means for keeping updated information on businesses.
